'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the loose ball before sprinting toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an incredible recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
